Christchurch

Christchurch

Yesterday was our first day of consciousness in NZ. We are still in Christchurch.
I started the day with a run in Hagley park, the third largest park in the world, with a golf course, so the taxi driving lady told us.
Walked around the city with the children (we don't have a car yet, which is great) a large part of the inner city is still closed of due to the terrible earthquake last year. There is a sadness over the city. We went shopping in the new mall, made out of containers, saw two ladies and could only imagine what it must feel like to have to go Christmas shopping right next to the streets where you could still see the names of the shops, but now only bulldozers working on the rebuild.
The botanical gardens in Hagley park were beautiful, have never seen so many roses in one place before.
Now we need to get on with renting a car, heading to Akaroa later on where we are staying on a farm :)
